The Amputee
About the Job
THE AMPUTEE is a man living at the Pool of Bethesda who has learned to survive through intelligence, strength, and grit. He moves through the world differently and has developed inventive ways to navigate the environment around him. He tells the story of the man known as “38” with anger, vulnerability, dark humor, and deep personal recognition. Having been rejected, overlooked, and trampled by society himself, he understands the pain of being reduced to a label. His spoken-word monologue is physical, rhythmic, and emotionally raw. This is a remote, self-recorded role. The selected actor will perform from their own location using a smartphone and will receive production guidance. Actors with an amputation or limb difference are strongly encouraged to submit.
